Day 6 - AMSTERDAMMMMMMMMMM - THE AMAZING CITY

“Hi guys I am your tour guide for today”, is what we hear each day when we know that an interesting adventure is coming our way and for now your tour guides, Jean-Luc, Rebecca and Callum are here to take you through our Amsterdam blast. We woke up to anxious breakfast with the weather appearing very grey. We then hopped on the bus and got ready for the morning of cycling through Amsterdam’s many picturesque bridges and canals.

All sporting our bright yellow bikes and rain ponchos we split off into 3 groups of 10 to explore Amsterdam’s many nooks and crannies. All of us shaking and trying to weave through some of Amsterdam’s 1.5 million bicycles and countless cars in small uneven streets.

The very nice bike guide talking to one group about Amsterdam

On this tour we moved through countless bridges, narrow streets and canals to see many typical Amsterdam sights like the extremely narrow houses to reduce rent, house boats, coffee shops (which give Amsterdam an interesting aroma of legal marijuana) and had the opportunity to visit a very open ensemble of the oldest job in the world… also known as the Red Light District, with all the ladies on display in shop windows. They wore next to what you wear when you leave a shower cabin… interesting… or not??

After a 2 hour lunch break we all made our way (with a tram!!)to the house of Amsterdam’s most famous Jewish resident. At Anne Frank’s house we sat down and discussed history with our new temporary tour guide. We talked about the precautions that the Frank family had to take to maintain their secrecy. We then even got to experience the same cramped and dark conditions that they had to endure.

After the Anne Franks… we enjoyed a nice ride, in the cold weather… more like freezing… but we woke up half of Amsterdam with our music and our waves and screams that broke into the cold weathers of Amsterdam.

After 2 hours on the boat… we docket at Hard Rock Café Amsterdam… where we had dinner and sang HAPPY BIRTHDA to Nenna, our new Ecuadorian Friend.

That is all for the day… We are expecting a nice long trip through Brussels and Paris… We will get some chips and Brussels sprouts?!?!? LOL
